This talk offers a practical roadmap for transforming theses into publishable journal articles. It discusses how postgraduate researchers can identify publishable units within their theses, refine arguments for specific scholarly audiences, select appropriate journals, particularly those indexed in Scopus and Web of Science, and respond effectively to the peer review process. The session also addresses common challenges encountered in academic publishing, including co-authorship decisions, ethical considerations, redundancy and self-plagiarism, and managing rejection. Importantly, the talk encourages postgraduate researchers to view publishing not as a post-thesis task but as an integral component of research design and scholarly identity formation. By understanding the expectations, processes, and strategies involved in academic publishing, emerging scholars can navigate the transition from thesis to journal with greater clarity, confidence, and resilience.
